You Need Protection For Dirt Bike Racing
from: Maxx Sports GuidesDirt biking is as exciting as it is dangerous. Riders are prone to crashes and life threatening accidents.
To prevent and alleviate injuries, riders need to wear gear designed for protection for dirt biking.
The most important gear that should be worn for protection for dirt biking is a strong helmet. This protects the head the bike crashes. Coupled with a visor, a full face helmet also protects the face from flying debris such as sand, dust, small stones and even insects. A helmet is very important safety gear that most countries in the world have passed laws about wearing one when riding a bicycle or motorcycle.
If the helmet is quarter face or half face, the rider needs something to protect his eyes. He must wear motorcycle goggles. He can select either clear, tinted or mirrored goggles. Tinted or mirrored goggles are preferred because they look cool and they protect the rider's eyes from harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun.
Another piece of gear that should be worn for protection for dirt biking are polycarbonate deflectors. This gear, which looks like a football player's upper shoulder pad but is much thinner, is worn on the chest of the rider and hidden under a rider's jacket or suit. Deflectors act as a suit of armor. In the event of crashes, it prevents the rider's upper torso from abrasions and more serious injury.
Knee guards are also an important part of a biker's protective gear. These look like tough plates of plastic that is strapped on the knees. Advanced knee guards are made of high impact polycarbonate, polypropylene and nylon plastics for maximum protection. If they can, most riders prefer jointed knee guards to enable them to easily flex their knees.
Mirroring the knee guards is another piece of equipment for protection for dirt biking. These are elbow guards. Similar to knee guards, elbow guards are made of tough plastic to withstand impacts. Also, riders prefer jointed elbow guards so they can flex their arms easily.
Another important gear worn for protection for dirt biking is a special protective belt. The belt, which is made of durable plastic and elastic synthetics, provides protection to vital areas such as kidneys and the groin. The belts also support the back of the rider.
It's important to invest in good quality gear. The better the quality, the better the safety level that the gear can offer.
