Riders need Motocross Apparel for Comfort, Protection, Not Only for Style

from: Maxx Sports Guides

Every sport has its own particular "uniform" or required gear. Motocross is no exception.

Motocross apparel is designed primarily to protect the rider from harsh elements, such as rain, cold and extreme heat from the sun.

On the other hand, motocross apparel also helps the rider "look good" with the motorcycle. It's one way of "showing off" the rider's motorcycle style.

Many types of motocross apparel are available on the market today, including casual motocross apparel, dirt bike motocross apparel, and motocross apparel for kids.

Casual motocross apparel is generally simple yet made of high quality materials. This type of apparel is used mainly to give the rider a more stylish look.

Apparel for Comfort, Protection

Dirt bike motocross apparel is geared for a more exciting ride. Aside from the stylish look, it also provides comfort and protection for the rider.

Motocross apparel consists mainly of jerseys, jackets, pants, gloves and boots. Motocross apparel does not have to be flashy. Their primary purpose is to provide comfort and protection to the motocross rider.

Motocross riders usually wear protective body armour to protect them from harm. The body armour is usually made of composite materials (usually hard plastic, while higher quality armour is made of Kevlar). The tough armour protects riders against injuries from falls, flying debris and other riders.

Motocross jerseys, usually made of polyester, provide comfort to the rider. High end motocross jerseys have insert panels on the sleeve and back for ventilation while some have elbow pads.

Racing pants are considered an essential motocross apparel item. Motocross pants help protect the rider from injuries, such as abrasion.

Motocross pants are usually made of nylon or polyester; they're usually water resistant/repellent, as well as heat resistant. Abrasion resistant pants generally have an "inner knee panel" for knee protection.

Get a Grip with Gloves

Dirt bike gloves are also an important motocross apparel item for a motocross rider. As well as protecting hands from injuries, dirt bike gloves enable riders to get a better grip on their handlebars.

Basically, two types of gloves are used for dirt bike riding: motocross gloves and Enduro gloves. The main difference between the two is that motocross gloves have less padding on the palm side than the Enduro gloves. The additional padding on the Enduro gloves is well suited for longer rides.

As well as making the rider look good on a dirt bike, wearing appropriate motocross apparel provides additional comfort and protection.

So, before hopping on your dirt bike for your next motocross make sure you have all the required motocross apparel.
