How to Choose the Least Expensive but Most Suitable Paintball Gun for You
from: Maxx Sports GuidesYou don't want to sacrifice the quality of paintball safety equipment simply to save a few dollars. However, paintball guns are available at reasonable prices.
You can find economical paintball guns with a wide variety of interesting features.
When deciding which paintball gun is best for you, be realistic and determine your "skill level". If you're a beginner, and don't know how often you'll be playing, start with an inexpensive gun.
In deciding which features you need in a paintball gun, you can borrow markers from friends and try them on different paintball fields. After you've decided on the features you want, you can start shopping for your gun.
Watch for Poor Quality
Many quality inexpensive recreational guns are available, so you don't need to spend a great deal of money when playing for recreation.
Several poor quality markers are also on the market. Therefore, before buying research the market to make certain that the marker you do get is dependable and can be upgraded.
When making plans to play in tournaments, determine the type of tournament you'll be entering. If you're going to play in small tournaments you may use a less expensive marker or upgrade your old one.
However, in larger tournaments, you'll need an "electro-pneumatic" or a "blow-forward" gun, which costs at least $350.
The cost of markers depends primarily on the gun's pressure system as well as its accessories. The most popular system today is the "carbon dioxide pressure system" normally used in less expensive markers.
The main disadvantage is that the carbon dioxide's performance can be influenced by outside temperature. As the carbon dioxide changes from a gas to a liquid state, velocity becomes unstable and affects its shooting accuracy.
Nitrogen Systems More Reliable
Serious paintball players use "high-pressure air and nitrogen system" markers that are much more accurate because the nitrogen will never liquefy. However, because of this advantage, nitrogen system markers are more expensive.
Extra accessories also increase a marker's cost. A loader or hopper -- a container that feeds paintballs into the gun, is highly popular. Many varieties of hoppers are available. Some are powered and automated. Fast and lightweight hoppers are more expensive.
Any marker that you buy will not be perfect; it will ultimately have flaws. So when buying your marker, always double check the choices offered and get a gun only if you know what you really want.
