How Paintball Teams Can Use Defensive Tactics against Opponents
from: Maxx Sports GuidesAs in other sports, the best offence is having a good defence in the game of paintball.
This strategy, also used in other sports such as basketball and soccer, involves a paintball team doing its best to prevent the opposing team from capturing the flag.
Games start with both sides having limited ammunition. Since the game can last for a long time, the team should make every shot count.
Players should only fire when they have a clear shot rather than not having enough ammunition left to fire when it matters the most.
Spreading out over a certain area is a good defensive tactic. This covers the enemy no matter from which direction he may come. If the opposing team sees one of your team members, the others who have a better view should neutralize the opponent.
Fall Back, Regroup
In the opening minutes of the game, if a team loses half of its members a good strategy is to fall back to the base and regroup. Set up a perimeter to prevent the other team from outflanking the group, and send out patrols to search for the enemy.
If a scout has spotted the enemy, the person can take the opponent out. If a group is moving towards the base, go back and tell the others and fight off the enemy with the same number of people. This plan could fail if any of the members of the opposing force escapes the attack and tells the others where your base is located.
Your team can use camouflage and concealment to catch the enemy off guard. Since the guns have a limited range, wait until the opposing force enters the "kill zone" before starting to shoot.
A firefight usually takes place after the player's position has been revealed. Since the enemy will return fire, the person can still survive the enemy's bullets by taking enough cover.
If this isn't feasible, a good idea is to transfer to a better area. A player should inform the others before moving so that team mates can provide adequate cover.
Planning is needed for the play to work. By communicating on the field, the team has a good chance of defending the base, and surging forward to "kill" the enemy or capture the flag.
Yes, in paintball using a strategy of a strong offence is usually the best defence.
