Retreating Properly During a Heated Paintball Game Can Be Good Strategy

However, a team can choose a number of ways to retreat successfully. Here's how.
Plan Your Strategy
The entire team must be ready to go to a safe area when they realize they need to retreat. Each member should find a place with enough cover to protect him.
Move closer to members known as the assist unit to get help. Assist units are usually concealed before the game starts so the opposing team don't have any idea where the players are heading.
Be a Team
Work together, run together, and fight together. Team power is always the best protection. When team members watch each other's back, they can save the whole squad and help the team re-engage as soon as they're back in a safe area.
Fire Back
To get free from the enemy, the team must fire in sync and with great intensity to keep the enemy's heads down. This could buy time for you to retreat successfully. Three or four seconds of blasting can be a good preparation for retreat.
Move With a Plan
To repeat, plan your strategy! Retreating doesn't necessarily mean rushing to safety. While team members retreat, they need to make certain that the opposing paintball players are given a hard time. The whole squad should take turns in returning fire as they head for cover.
In the end it's surprising to see that multiple shots were fired at the opposing team while retreating. They may be running after the retreating team so it's easy to shoot at the enemy when they're in the open.
End your retreat while you still retain some control. Do it when there's still a chance to fight the opponent - not when you can no longer shoot at the whole team.
The enemy can inflict much worse damage when they can't be seen, so it's much harder to retreat successfully.
The Catch!
On special occasions a team may retreat as ruse just to lure the enemies into a trap. By keeping the paintball team together and drawing back, the opponent may feel they're already winning. They might be easier to attack. Once the assisting unit is behind you, utilize speed and shoot the enemies.
Just because your team is being fired at during a paintball game is no reason to retreat. It could be a good chance to change stations and use the advantage to find better cover.
Retreat might also be good strategy just to mess up the enemy's strategies.
