Stealth: An Important Strategy in Winning at Paintball

from: Maxx Sports Guides

Firepower and manpower are definitely important in Paintball. Firepower is a paintball gun's ability to inflict a lot of paint on your opponents. A gun's firepower is also measured by the ammunition it can carry.

However, firepower is useless in the wrong hands. Manpower is one of the most important factors in winning games.

Manpower enables a player to play harder, but also to play smarter in the field. This involves the use of stealth, which can win games for you.

Using different techniques team members can use stealth to blend with their surroundings. Stealth will usually uncover the "newbie" in a paintball environment.

Avoid Stepping on Twigs

Stealth is about moving the right way. When you need to make a quick dash, stick to paths with no twigs. When stepped on, twigs will break, snap and crackle.

Take your time (when you still have it) and move slowly when moving through a cluttered area.

Stealth is best accomplished when using the proper equipment. Shoes and clothing will help tremendously in minimizing the sound you create when moving.

Shoes with soft soles are recommended as they make less noise than army combat boots. Soft-sole shoes naturally absorb sound, limiting any noise made while walking.

Soft clothing will also be an advantage. Coarse fabrics can create much noise when brushing against branches and foliage. Soft clothing, however, is ideal for crawling quietly, with a minimal amount of noise being created.

Other pieces of equipment, including harnesses and holsters, must also fit snugly or tightly on your body.

As well, avoid putting anything in the leg area since this can create noise when walking and running. This includes your reloads and ammunition.

Use Camouflage Colors

Several other techniques can be used, such as using colors that match the battlefield's foliage. This type of camouflage will conceal you and prevent your enemies from seeing you (when you're not moving).

When you need to move, it's recommended that you learn how to crawl properly, while at the same time being able to fire when necessary.

Stealth takes time to learn properly. Even experienced players make mistakes. And all players can learn from their mistakes!
