Parasailing, or parascending, involves towing one to three people behind a vehicle while they are attached to a parachute. As the vehicle increases its speed, the parasail or canopy fills with air and the flyer or pilot is carried high aloft.
The sport is most popular at seaside resorts and beaches. Many parasailing services cater to sports people, parachute makers, and even jet boat owners.

Parasailing services are usually available at resorts or sports stores. They may consist of one or more of the following:
Parasailing requires a boat with an engine of 90 horsepower or more. The boats must be maintained and cleaned regularly, as their high speeds during parasailing contribute to considerable wear and tear.
Different designs and sizes of parasail are available, depending on how many people will ride it, and the experience of the parasailer.
The height of the parasail can range from about twenty feet, to more than forty feet. They can carry one to three people at one time, or may even be fashioned into a sky chair, for easier, more convenient riding.
Commercial parasailing canopies are also designed to allow high lift onto winds, and to resist drag. These high lift, low drag parachutes are available at most parasailing locations; they’re considered the most versatile of parasailing parachutes.

Parasailing resorts will offer inspection and safety services to ensure your security before, after, and during your ride.
Before you take off, parasailing crew members will inspect all your gear, and make certain that you wear your helmet, life vest, and protection for your feet.
Crew members will also hook you onto the sail and ensure that you’re strapped into your parasailing harness. While you’re in the air, crew members will watch you closely and inspect the tautness of the rope linking you to the boat or automobile.
The parasailing crew will also watch your landing to make certain you land in the proper position. This will keep you from placing undue pressure on your muscles and joints.
