Soar Safely in a Sky Chair during Parasailing

from: Maxx Sports Guides

Imagine seeing someone sitting in a chair high in the sky, floating gently towards earth beneath a colourful parachute.

For more than twenty five years, beach goers and spectators have been awed and amazed by the sight of parasailers and their parachutes.

A parasail is often colorful, and stands out like a multi-hued bird against a clear blue summer sky. With all the color and noise attached to the sport, parasailing seems to be all the more exciting.

Indeed, parasailing, or parascending, has enjoyed a revival in popularity, with advances in water and land vehicle engineering. The whirr of jet boats through the waves is no longer a foreign sound, and is most likely to be accompanied by a parasailer soaring high into the air, with bright plumes waving in the breeze.

Briefly, parasailing is a recreational sport that allows one to three people to glide through the air with the help of a parachute, to which they are attached, and a vehicle that tows them.

Over Water or Land

Parasailing can be done over the water, and is popular at many beaches and seaside resorts all over the world all year round. Parasailing can also be done over land, and is popular as both an adventure and competitive sport in Northern Europe, especially in Finland. Parasail canopies are fitted to allow riders to sit in their harness.

However, a person who sits in such a position for a long time while parasailing can strain his or her back. Some parasailing services offer the sky chair, a canopy especially fashioned for convenient parasailing.

How safe is the parasail sky chair? If you're interested in taking a parasailing ride in a sky chair, you can be confident that it's a safe way to enjoy this recreational activity.

Safety precautions and guidelines permit children aged thirteen years and older to ride the sky chair, since their mass and weight distribution can control the chair's stability when buffeted by winds. In fact, many forest and wilderness resorts offer parasailing rides using a sky chair.

Regardless of the canopy you choose, or whether you decide on a body harness or sky chair, be sure to have an expert with you at all times. You need to be strapped into your canopy securely, and your position must be comfortable.

You must be dressed in proper parasailing gear: a helmet; a life vest for parasailing over water, or a safety vest for parasailing over land; and ample protection for your feet.

If you practice safety, then your parasailing ride in the sky chair will certainly be an enjoyable experience.
