What You Need to Know When Flying and Landing a Parasail

from: Maxx Sports Guides

Parasailing provides a rare opportunity to fly like a bird. It's also a sport adventure activity that's been practiced for more than two decades.

You need a speed boat with at least a 90-horse-power engine, a harness, and a towline. As well, wind speed must range from twelve to twenty-seven m.p.h.

As much as possible, the flight and takeoff area should be clear and without obstructions such as ropes, trees, or power lines.

Parasailing Preperations

The parasail flyer should have a helmet, a life jacket, as well as feet protection.

The crew holds on to the sides of the canopy chute. As soon as a signal is given, the flyer resists the boat's pull to keep the line tight as well as to keep his balance.

Now that the parasail is floating in the sky, the passenger should sit in the harness apparatus. He or she steers left or right by pulling on the risers either from the left or right.

Altitude is controlled by the boat's speed. As long as the boat's speed is increased to maintain the flyer's wind speed, the boat can travel and turn along the direction of the wind.

Parasail Landing

The parasail landing is on water. As much as possible, the landing area should be clear. The speed boat must stop completely before splashdown to prevent the chute from being dragged along the water.

After the parasail landing, the flyer must unhook him from the parasail chute. The boat crew should also pick him up immediately.

The parasail is brought towards the boat and prepared for the next ride. Take note that if a parasailer has enough experience in landing on water, he may next consider touching down on land.

However, this requires the necessary skills by the speed boat driver and the flyer. Landings on land could increase the risk of injury risk; however, it's a good way to stay dry.

Any sport adventure activity, specifically parasailing, involves some risk. However, participants must have the drive, knowledge and preparation to do it safely.
