Jo Dee Bucki: Female Professional Angler
from: Maxx Sports GuidesWhen you hear about professional anglers, it's most often the names of guys. Most people believe that professional anglers are mostly males. Most, but not all! It's very heartening to note there's a female professional angler who is a true inspirations to women who have passion for angling.
Jo Dee Bucki is one professional angler who can truly inspire. Born in Stanford, Florida, Jo Dee is daughter of John and Mardee Lake, Since she was raised along the Saint John's River, the young Jo Dee learned how to fish at an early age.
Currently, this professional angler is based in Birmingham, Alabama. She earned her college degree at University of Alabama and later married Jay, and both found jobs in Alabama and started their new lives there as a couple. They're both passionate about fishing and during their spare time, they sailed and fished in the central part of Alabama, on their Carolina Skiff boat.
Later, they replaced their boat with a twenty-foot Triton Boat and called it Betty Anne 5. Jo Dee first participated in a local tournament sometime in February 2004, which almost won her the Big Fish Category. During that tournament, she was able to fish a five point five Largemouth.
When Jo Dee found out about the recently founded Women's Bassmaster Tournament trail, she couldn't resist joining. She finished at the fifth spot, and from then on, she's realized she really has indeed a calling for fishing. Jo Dee then joined a number of tournaments that truly made a name for herself, and is now considered a professional angler in her own right.
However, this professional angler isn't just concerned about her career in the fishing industry. Jo Dee is, surprisingly, one of the biggest supporters of Hand in Paw. Hand in Paw is an organization that provides therapy which is animal assisted to both the children and the adults. Together with her dog, Maya, Jo Dee has helped inspire a number of people thru her timeless support of the organization.
Aside from that, she's also a writer. Along with her friend John O'Malley, the president of the Strategic Visions Incorporated, and of course her ever-reliable dog Maya, Jo Dee loves writing books for children that are primarily focused on animal assisted therapies.
At present, she lives with her husband Jay, and they don't have any children. However, they have three lovely dogs -- Maya, Josianne, and Lee. You can really feel the burning passion of this professional angler, balancing her job as a sales executive, and a professional angler. She's popular for her fishing techniques called the Crankbaits and the Shaky head. She spends some of her leisure time around Lay Lake, in Alabama.
Now, who says women can't join professional tournaments for angling? Jo Dee Bucki is indeed a perfect example and inspiration to those women who have the heart and passion for professional angling.
