Types of Bass Fish

Some of the most famous species of bass are the temperate basses, which includes white bass and striped bass, belonging to the Moronidae family and the warm water basses such as Centrarchidae, rock bass (belonging to the sunfish family), Guadalupe bass, spotted bass, smallmouth bass, and largemouth bass.
Let's discuss the different types of basses.
Largemouth bass: These are mainly a member of the sunfish family and isn't a bass. The weight of this bass varies from 1 - 3 pounds and its size varies from 12 - 18 inches. The have excellent color vision and they use their sight mainly in clear water.
Smallmouth bass: It's usually green in color having dark vertical bands along the side. It likes to stay in cold water temperatures and may be discovered in both moving and still water.
Spotted bass: This a freshwater fish. It has a resemblance to a largemouth in coloration, but its mouth is much smaller than a largemouth bass. It has an average weight of 4.6kg and a length of about 64cm.
Guadalupe bass: It reaches a maximum length of about 46cm and has a weight of about 3.7 lb. This bass has been named "Texas trout", since it has the capability of putting up a tough fight when it's hooked.
Rock bass: Rock bass, a sort of freshwater fish, has a length of about 43cm and a maximum weight of about 1.4kg. It mainly prefers vegetated, rocky and clear lake margins and stream pools and can survive for more than ten years.
Australian bass: The body of Australian bass is rather deep and elongated that's laterally compacted. Their mouth is medium sized and their large sized eyes appear red in bright light and appear dark in low light.
Black sea bass: This marine fish, which is also known as sea bass, has a weight of about 1 1/2 lb. Although they're black in color, they may also appear in brown, grey or in deep indigo shade.
Giant sea bass: They have a size of about 2.5m and a weight of about 255kg. It's a fish native to the north of the Pacific Ocean. Very little is known regarding its biology and behavior.
All these different types of bass present their own challenges to the bass fisherman. It's important to know your fish when you take up the sport of bass fishing.
