Bass Fishing Techniques

It's one of the most popular money making activities in the U.S. The main reason for its popularity is that these fish are a hardy species, which is why it is quite often used in "catch and release" angling.
A number of techniques are followed in Bass fishing.
Doodling:
Doodling is a popular Bass fishing technique. It's used most commonly in deep water lakes of western America. It's also used in pond water. For Doodling, you require a bait casting reel or a spinning gear six feet in length and a medium light action rod. If you're using 6 - 8 pound deep fishing test, then it's advisable to go for a spinning gear. But if you're flipping for 10 pound or higher, then it's best to go for bait casting.
For this technique, first you have to allow the bait drop to the desired depth. Then start moving your rod slowly for around 30 seconds. Pause. Then start again by shaking it for another 2 - 3 seconds. Then pause and pull very slowly up to six inches. Again, let the bait fall and repeat the same process.
Pitching:
Pitching is used for Bass fishing in clear water and in places with lesser cover for Bass to hide. For Pitching, you should have a rod of 6 feet length and a single-hook lure. For the latter, you may use a worm, jig or spinner bait. Pitching is best for a target ranging between 10-30 feet.
For Pitching, hold the lure at a height slightly above your waist. Then allow the rod tip to droop in the direction of the water keeping the line firm. Now, move your wrist in a way that the tip of the rod is swung forward in the direction of the target and slightly upward. Let the line go once the lure starts moving from beneath the rod tip. To get a smooth entry into the water, you should stop the bait just before it falls. Now, you can hold the reel and prepare for a strike.
Flipping:
Flipping is more commonly used in muddy waters and in places with obstacles like bushes or rocks, tree lines. For flipping, you require a heavy action rod of length six to seven and a half feet. Here, you should take care so that the cover lies 10 - 20 feet away from the target.
For this technique, the line should be around 15 feet. Then, leaving about 8 feet line over the front tip of the rod, grab the line lying between the reel and first rod guide. After that, rolling the rod end within your inner arm, hold the rod downwards and allow the bait to fall gently.
Night Fishing:
Night fishing is common in deep and clear reservoir water of southwest and the southeast America. Night fishing though a risky practice has its own advantages like cooler climes and also Bass move in shallower waters at night for food. Heavy lures are used for this technique so because their mobility easier felt in dark than lighter ones. You can try lures like pork rind or Plastic worms.
