Fishing with Live Bait

from: Maxx Sports Guides

Live bait may be described as any living, natural organism that can be used to catch fish. Live bait obviously comprises bait that's living. Many anglers still uses live bait. Fishing with live bait is an effective method for catching fish because of the smell and the genuine action that tempts fish to strike.

Generally, you'll notice that the live bait's size is almost in proportion to the size of the fish you want, with bait that are small in size, such as crickets, grasshoppers and worms, being used to catch small-sized fish, whereas large bait, such as crayfish, mullets and frogs, is used to catch large-sized fish. Using live bait is one of the most satisfying methods to go fishing. Some of the most famous freshwater fish you may catch with live bait are catfish, sunfish, bass, crappie, walleye and trout.

The principal benefit of fishing using live bait is that fish find it much more tempting. Since various types of small-sized fish are more appealing to various species of large-sized fish, before you head out, you shoule make sure you know which baitfish are best for catching the species you're targeting.

Since fresh bait gives superior results, you should always purchase fresh bait and you must also change it regularly. Your local bait shops during the months of summer tournaments, may be sold out from time to time. If you want to avoid this situation, you must order live bait the week or even the night before you go out fishing.

Here are a few tips by which you can keep the baits alive:

* Make sure the bait gets enough oxygen. Recirculating systems, unlike aeration systems, don't work well. They warm up the water and build turbulence that exhausts the fish by making them work harder in order to reside in place. In its place, try small air pumps, a bubbler that shoves air all the way through a hose with small holes in it. The hose transports oxygen to the water without exhausting the bait.

* If you're fishing in the summer months, you must keep the bait away from the sun because the warm water may make the baits sluggish or may kill some of them.

* You must keep the bait in a stable surrounding close to the temperature of the water being fished in because the fish can't stand much change in the temperature in the water.

* Be cautious of chlorinated water. If you're using ice to keep the bait chilly, the ice which is melted will contain chlorine in it. A de-chlorinator may be used as required. It will change the color of the water to blue-green. If you find the color is becoming paler, add some more de-chlorinator.

When you're aiming to have a great day out at sea, live bait be useful. Logic and reason will tell you that a fish must be more fascinated to genuine food as opposed to artificial food. Since live bait augments the workload, ensure that you're ready to deal with the total package before going out fishing with live bait.
