Essential Saltwater Fishing Rods

from: Maxx Sports Guides

The joys of saltwater fishing rods! Imagine, you're standing on the deck of one a nice charter boat. The sun is shining, you're surrounded by friends, and you realize you're as far away from work and worry as you can possible be.

And then something catches your eye -- a tug on your fishing line. You step over to your stand, grab your rod, and begin to reel in a fish bigger than you've ever seen in your life. Your heart starts to beat rapidly, your palms sweat as you think about the stories you'll be able to tell, how good it will feel to reel this on in, and how good he'll look above your mantle.

Suddenly the fish leaps out of the water and you see just how glorious this creature is, and then you hear it, the sound you'll never forget -- that snapping sound. Just at the peak of your glory, you realize your rod couldn't handle the fish. Saltwater fishing is a great adventure, but if you aren't ready for it, you'll find out the hard way and your saltwater fishing rod is one piece of equipment you don't want to get wrong.

Similar to other types of fishing, your saltwater fishing rod is going to be taking on the weight of a fish at awkward angles and have to deal with the tug-of-war it will go through with an ornery fish that doesn't want to be caught. However, a saltwater fishing rod will have to take even more pressure and weight.

Saltwater fish aren't typical river fish. You can't compare a tuna and marlin with a river fish or rainbow trout. Saltwater fish are bigger, wilder, and much more aggressive. If you don't have a saltwater fishing rod that's ready for action, you won't just lose your fish, but your dreams will never come true.

So be smart about how you go about finding the right saltwater fishing rod -- do your research. Talk to the men and women at your local fishing and sporting goods store. Let them know the kind of trip you're planning, and the fish you want to catch. Whether it' s snapper, amberjack, tuna, grouper, bullfish, sharks, red fish or black drum, they can help answer questions, and recommend the right saltwater fishing rod.

Maybe you already have the perfect fishing rod, but it's getting old and out of shape. Why not go online and find ways to rebuild your rod. If you want to be really creative, you could even make your own rod. Regardless of what decide to do, make sue you're properly outfitted with the right saltwater fishing rod for your fishing adventure.
