Companies Sponsor Popular Supercross Motorcycle Racing Teams
from: Maxx Sports GuidesSupercross motorcycle racing has a number of popular racing teams sponsored by off-road motorcycle manufacturers and other businesses.
Honda sponsors one of the most popular and well known supercross motorcycle racing teams. Honda is most well known for its production of vehicles, ranging from passenger cars to motorcycles, including off-road motorcycles.
That could be one reason why Honda started its own supercross motorcycle racing team. Jeremy McGrath has been one of the most popular supercross racers to partner with Honda. McGrath, who retired near the end of 2006, went out with "a bang" during the Jeremy McGrath Invitational, held in October, 2006.
Kawasaki is another maker of off-road motorcycles. The company has also developed the Kawasaki supercross racing team, which includes a couple of well known riders, James Stewart and Michael Byrne.
James Stewart was crowned the 2006 World Supercross GP Champion.
Suzuki, which also makes a variety of vehicles, including off-road motorcycles, is another supercross motorcycle racing team. That team included Ricky Carmichael and Ivan Tedesco.
Although Tedesco's accomplishments shouldn't go unnoticed, Carmichael is known as one of the best supercross riders of all times. In fact, he's gone on to win a number of championships. This popular and well performing rider is often compared to the highly accomplished Jeremy McGrath.
The supercross motorcycle racing teams of Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki are joined by another popular and well known manufacturer of off-road motorcycles, Yamaha. In fact, if you enjoy off-road biking at your home, there is a good chance that you own a Yamaha off-road motorcycle. Their motorcycles are often considered one of the most popular on the market. Yamaha is also known for its supercross motorcycle racing team, consisting of Chad Reed and Heath Voss. Of the two riders, Chad Reed is the best known, not only in the United States, but around the world.
Riders from each team race their own sponsor's motorcycle. For instance, Chad Reed, a member of Team Yamaha, races a Yamaha bike. Many of these bikes are made especially for supercross motorcycle racing.
Generally, these specially-built supercross motorcycles aren't available to the general public. However, consumers now also have access to some similar street models. For example, Suzuki offered a replica of Ricky Carmichael's 2006 supercross bike. Other motorcycle teams and companies have started to follow suit.
As well as the motorcycle manufacturing teams mentioned above, many of these teams and riders have different sponsors. These include companies selling racing parts, as well as consumer and other products, such as food or drinks.
