What Are Sports Injuries?

Athletes who play their sport a lot tend to experience some form of overuse injury at some point.
Examples of overuse injuries include swimmers shoulder, little league elbow, tennis elbow, shin splits and spondylolysis. Each type of injury is typically associated with continuous repetition, especially with younger children. Exercises and strength training usually helps tone and condition the muscles to avoid problems and injuries associated with the repetition of sports.
An important way to avoid overuse injuries is to always warm up before playing, plus using appropriate equipment that fits properly. In addition, try to limit the number of sports you engage in at any one time. This means to avoid being involved in more than one activity per season since this is likely to strain your muscles and joints much faster.
Reinjury: This is a common injury amongst athletes and most often occurs when an athlete pushes recovery and returns to playing before they're fully healed. Most athletes who have reinjury problems tend to return to sports before getting the approval of their doctor. Playing a sport before your injury has completely healed often causes the same injury to progress, and can is likely to cause additional injuries, depending on the circumstances surrounding the reinjury.
You can avoid reinjury by carefully allowing your body to fully heal after being injured. Follow the instructions your doctor recommends, as well as cautiously and slowly re-entering the sports field after recovery. This will greatly reduce the risk of a reinjury. Making yourself susceptible to additional injury by returning to physical activity too soon just isn't very smart and can lead to long term and even permanent damage to your body.
